<p>I'm still considered dependent on the FAFSA because I do not meet the criteria to be independent. I was wondering about being considered independent by my school. I work and support myself. I am paying my tuition my parents are not paying for any. I have no contact with my father. I will not be living with my mom for summer break. What is the general criteria to be considered independent by a college?</p>
<p>Same qualifications. Actually, a college will consider you independent except for the part about being eligible for financial aid.</p>
