I’m kinda opposite of you. I’m really athletic, good at lots of stuff: tennis, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, soccer, etc. But fit? Haha not really. I can barely run a mile, and that’s around 8 minutes. I look fit (and athletic)… I guess my problem is endurance and I’m not flexible at all (is that fit?).

I don’t really understand how your physique relates to your social status… People tend to only judge people on their weight/body type when they already don’t like them (ie calling the pudgy loser a fatarse). But if you look at the “popular” kids at my school (granted, I live in the South), a fair number of them are significantly larger than Kate Moss <–euphemism

You know what’s interesting - there’s a clear negative correlation in my school between obesity and intelligence (that is to say, of the top 20% of our class, no one has major weight issues). It’s probably just luck, but it’s still odd

I understand genetics. But even someone with really unfortunate genetics can have a normal weight with proper diet and exercise.

BTW, there is a real issue with girls misunderstanding what it means to be fat. Cosmo and other chick magazines are a joke. The super skinny models they show there are disgusting. Please don’t be that skinny. Guys want boobs and butt.

Fat people are really annoying. Personally I think fat people have serious issues. It’s really not that hard to maintain a healthy weight. Most of the time it is silly self-control and laziness issues that can easily be amended if they tried or cared. But they don’t.

Skinny people are okay, but personally I think it’s way too easy to be considered underweight. The BMI is seriously skewed in favor of more heavier people. It annoys me when people are like "YES, I’m at the upper range of healthy weight’, when in reality they just look fat. And you can tell it’s just not healthy…

Didn’t read thread, but agree with the title.

What tends to skew it is that fit people are often athletic; they have a high correlation (besides the bodybuilders and the like, but they’re technically sports as well, although people sometimes don’t think so).

And as for weight, looks and the actual quantity can be deceiving…bone structure, body type, actual health accounted, the results can be very surprising.

Although I’ll agree that a sizable amount of fat people are lazy, don’t exercise and simply eat and etc, yes.

I wouldn’t say it’s easy for everyone. I agree that there are steps that they can take to be healthy, but some people really have to watch themselves in order to fit in with what society depicts as healthy. I do believe that some people are just lazy though.

I try and eat healthy. But I can’t live without fast food. I’m pretty much considered skinny but I do feel like I need to exercise, but when I mention this to people they’re all like “omg you’re so skinny why do you want to lose weight??!?!?!” So dumb.
