At my school we don’t have certain clubs that I would like to be the founder of. For instance, Decca and Model UN are very well known clubs, yet we don’t have it. So I am wondering, who do I go to to discuss about the possibilities for me to be the founder of these two clubs? Are there requirements you need to meet?
It depends on your school. You’ll probably need at lest 4 other kids (maybe more) interested in joining, a faculty advisor, and paperwork plus approval from the principal or a vice principal.
What about the competitions that are involved in joining these clubs? Do I need a sponsor to take care of all these things?
It depends on the competition. You’ll probably need a faculty member to sign you up, though. Not sure if they actually have to go there.
Check your school’s guidelines on formulating clubs. My school, for example, has a lengthy and very well thought-out process administered by the school’s ASB officers (several new clubs form every year–my school has like 80 different clubs). You’ll probably need a faculty member who wants to be your adviser and a petition sheet requiring signatures (at my school, it’s 100). Depending on how hard it is to form clubs at your school, you may have to form a constitution, present your idea, etc.
