I just visited JHU and fell in love with the whole package: the campus, programs, people, and the area of Baltimore around it. I feel like my scores (2150 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, #1 in Class) and ECs (passionate and interesting imo) are good for admissions; however, I was wondering if being a student from Maryland would be a boost, even if a small one, for the college.
Thanks!

Since JHU is a private institution, being from Maryland has no weight in the process. You may see that when student backgrounds are broken down by state of origin, the mid-Atlantic states may have higher numbers of students. This is just because the school draws students from your area, not because their location provides them with an advantage.

who knows. there are quite a few people from maryland but most i know are from nj/ny.
if you’re from Baltimore itself, there might be more of an advantage…i believe scholarships are even given out to baltimore natives if they are accepted

the answer is no.
