Well, what are the chances of getting into Georgia Tech being on the "Transfer" wait list?
They are different from Freshmen wait list. Georgia Tech said they will let me know when space is available according to the website, but no later than August 3rd.

Here's what they have said,
"The Committee for Undergraduate Admission has reviewed your application to the Georgia Institute of Technology. Due to the record number of applications from highly qualified students competing for limited available spaces, we are unable to offer you admission at this time.

Because of the impressive preparation you have demonstrated in your college career, we have placed you on our waitlist. We encourage you to visit Transfer Waitlist | Admission to learn more about our waitlist, as well as to read frequently asked questions.

If you do not wish to remain on our wait list and would like to close your application, please click here.
Again, thank you for your interest in Georgia Tech."

Do anybody have any clue on what are the percentages of Transfer students who gets on the wait list vs. those who gets accepted after being on the wait list?

Most of my friends who transfer either gets accepted or rejected.

I’ve contacted GA tech, and this is the first time they have “transfer wait list”

I would say all you can do is wait and see since this is the first time it’s happened. Waitlists are always pretty unpredictable. Since this is the first time it has happened, please follow-up on what the outcome is so other people in your shoes can get some insight in the future.

When I was applying, I heard that Spring transfer admissions are less competitive than fall transfer admissions, so if it doesn’t work out you might consider taking a smaller course load this fall at your current school to boost your GPA and give it another shot.

What is your GPA (math/science & overall) and major if you don’t mind me asking?

Which major did you apply for?

Honestly, I barely met the requirements . My overall is 3.07 and my Math/Science Combined is 3.08. And the major I applied for is Electrical Engineering.

If it even matter, I have like 70-80 Transfer Credits I believe.
I kind of feel like I can’t even compete since I barely met the requirement, that is if GA Tech is looking at it GPA-wise only. What do you guys think?

All I can do is wait and see like KamelAkbar said, but my Plan B is Southern PolyTechnic, what do you guys think about my Plan B?

I am on the waitlist as well. I applied for Computer Engineering. My overall is 3.36 and Math/Science is 3.2.

I am very upset because I thought I was pretty much in for sure. They claim they don’t rank the waitlist, and when I asked how they pick people from it, all they told me was that it is “based on space availability within the major”.

On the positive end, last year of the people accepted into the College of Engineering, 85% enrolled, so there still is some hope.

[Transfer Admissions | Georgia Tech Factbook](http://factbook.gatech.edu/content/transfer-admissions)

@atlBrandon I understand you bro. I hope we both get in!! All we can do is hope and pray lols. Thats some good info you gave there as well…According to that link you shared, every year people gets accepted in the “Engineering” major but only 85% decides to enroll as you mention.

But still, once they look at the space availability within that “certain” major, how will they pick within that major after that?? By rank?

And since this is the first time it happened, it must be a lot on the wait list
And if they do rank the waitlist, then I’m pretty much screwed eh…

But whats your plan B atlBrandon? Not trying to put you down, but we all got to think about the “What If” if you know what I mean hehe.

Let’s hope for the best, that we get accepted altogether !!

I also got the same message on Friday, it felt like a total kick in the nuts. I’ve applied for a Computer Science major, it’s hard to say what my GPA is because a good chunk of my grades were done under the quarter system. I’d estimate around a 3.2-3.3.

It’s a little comforting to hear that others are going through the same anguish I am (misery loves company). I thought for sure I was getting in, I guess I will have to decide between Georgia State and Southern Poly as a backup plan. Good luck to everyone in this situation!

I am in the same boat as BornUnderPunches. I am picking G State, they have a much better comp. science program. Are y’all in-state or out-of-state…?

I’m in-state here, and I agree BornUnderPunches…Sucks to hear all this! Hmm, so we got a lot of different majors here. So far Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science. If anybody else has anything to say, feel free to!

wow i have 3.6 gpa (about 3.75 math/science) and i still got put on the waitlist for mechanical engineering but i am asian so i guess that makes a difference in admission.

@Samradh I am from in-State. Why do you say G State’s comp sci program is much better? I’ve just started researching both schools so I’m looking for as much info as I can get.

Im an international transfer, together with my friends 6 of us got accepted (we’re from the same college), for the guys the lowest CGPA among us is 3.86 and highest is 3.97, for the girls is slightly easier, 3.78 and she’s in

I’m Asian as well…any updates for you guys yet? (Hoping for the best for all of us)

@BornUnderPunches… There was some misunderstanding… I meant Georgia State is better than SPSU… :)

@Tyrus1993… I thought CGPA was out of 9.0 points… Is that true?

really depends on the amount of people transfering. I am in-state with 3.6 gpa and still didn’t get in. it is harder for international or out-of-state and especially for asians. since demographically they have a huge surplus of asians. lol

@2010ksarpong i think you have a high chance, got a lot of credits too?

Well for Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering , isn’t the minimum gpa 3.3? Its definitely higher than Electrical Eng though. I had a friend who just got accepted by transferring with 3.21 (overall) and 3.48 (Math/Sci) though…and he’s asian.

Im still worried…Its like my dream goal to get into this school although its going to be tough, but i’ll handle it somehow.

I really don’t think Georgia Tech is going out of their way to reject Asians. Why even put your race on your application if you think it’s such an issue?

i don’t think georgia is going out of their way to reject asians but it is alot harder for asians.
