Hello,

I'm a 4.0 Student but now 2nd semester has come. I'm wondering what grades I can get in 2nd semester without being rescinded at ivy league schools. Would all Bs be okay??

Thanks

You should try to maintain the grades as close as possible to your current GPA. I say work for As.

lousy question, but the answer is yes, that would probably be OK.

Well, getting straight B’s might nuke your top 10 or sal/val chances… ;)

^lol but but starcraft 2 is so much more fun than learning about torque…

let me out it this way, straight As = 4.0, straight b’s = 3.0, you have a 25% decline last semester of senior year, it doesn’t look good and honestly, is actually kinda dicey…

there are threads over CC about kids who do this and get rescinded I hope that being smart enough to get in Ivy League, you’re smart enough to keep your place there, if not, there are always plenty of people dying to get off the waitlist. But seriously, you took a spot someone else could have filled, be mature enough to take care of it…

I have not read one first hand account of someone being rescinded on CC. Can someone point me to such a post?

There are others. I just grabbed the first one I found.

Has the OP already been accepted to “ivies”? (his words not mine)…huge difference between being rescinded if already accepted (which would mean ED or EA at this point) vs grades tanking before acceptance…

Curious how he could already be accepted to “ivies” plural at this point?

This should give you a start: [Let me google that for you](http://lmgtfy.com/?q=college+rescind)

No I haven’t but I’m just wondering

Keep in my you just may want or need to transfer. Don’t let the lack of love of learning show.

Nooo, he said the “S” word. I can feel the carpal tunnel twitching in my right arm again…

Put it off for a little longer. Try and keep your A’s. Then you can play all you want in college.

Yeah feel free to drop your 4.0 and become a B student; Not like there are hundreds of waitlisted students with straight A’s senior year ready to take your spot.

I mean will you really get rescided for all Bs… At top tier schools.

Here’s my response, as an Adcom:

I am going to rescind you. Too many great applicants who are waitlisted. Seeya later, your loss. I’m excited to send a letter of acceptance to this fellow who has straight A’s in 6 AP courses senior year. He clearly cares about his education, no matter where he’s going to college and no matter what time of year it is. That’s the kind of kid I want.

It’s rare but Ivies can do whatever they want. The answer is yes.

How 'bout this one. He did exactly what you asked about (dropped to Bs):

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-2014/965545-does-mean-im-screwed.html

Actually, it wasn’t even all Bs… still had an A

^wow that scared me… but i’m just preparing for all Bs cuz i’m considering doing research and also season has started for the first robotics competition and I might not have enough time for academics…

so here’s a more realistic question:
is it okay for me to get 3 Bs and 3 As? (i’m just trying to plan out the worst situation)

oh and lol i almost thought you were an adcom pancake :P

(don’t know whether the kid actually got rescinded.)

I also know of a girl who got into Yale last year but was “forced” to take a gap year due to a slip in grades.
