Does being half-spanish give me a good advantage at UNC-CH?
I'm out of state but my stats are
ACT:30
SAT: 1310/2030
GPA: 3.4/3.8
School doesn't rank, private, competitive.
My essays and recommendations will be great.

Yes, but I don’t think it would be advantageous enough to overcome having a 3.8 weighted/ 3.4 unweighted GPA as a non-NC resident. If you were a resident, I would say you had a good shot, but OSS is tough.

yes i do mean hispanic, i didnt mean to sound ignorant

i do have a strong upward trend though

The URM status is big. There are OOS URM candidates this year with 3.7ish unweighted GPAs and SATs between 2100 and 2200 that were not only accepted but invited into the “very selective” Honors Program which is supposed to be the “top 7% or so” of the incoming class. Therefore, although it’s doubtful you’ll get invited to the honors program, I would think your GPA/SAT scores with the URM status would get you accepted. You should definitely try.
