Being too close to home?

So i live around 30mins away from my college (through the city, but around 40 through the highway). I could get there in 25min on a perfect day. But the thing is that I chose to live at the college my first year. Is it a bad thing if you go home once in a while or would you say that would that would be a bit anti social.

Also, would you transfer out of college that you like just so you can continue the "college life" somewhere else? Second year I'm pretty sure I would have to live at home and commute no matter what,so I don't know if I should be looking to transfer at all....

It’s okay to go home once in a while, just not all the time. And you can absolutely have the college life at the school you’re at, I go to school 20 minutes from home, I go home for breaks and for the occasional doctors appointment-- and halloween, to take my nieces and nephews trick or treating as is tradition-- and that’s it. If you can control yourself enough to not go home every weekend it’s really the best of both worlds to go close.

thanks for replying. How many years have you lived at your college so far? The thing for me is that living here another year would cost a good amount and I’m pretty sure the school would rather have me commute. Would you transfer if you where in my situation?

I commuted from home for two years, and this is my second year in the dorms. What does transferring have to do with it if you said you would have to commute no matter what? I don’t follow your thought process.

it’s not bad to go home once and a while. don’t worry about that. just use your discretion and it’ll work out

I live about 2 miles from my school, AND I’M DORMING. Literally, 2 miles. It takes like 9 minutes to get there. Yes, I’m serious.

I just didn’t want to commute. Yeah, it’s costing me an extra $10k, but I think it’s worth it. Dorming is the best way to meet people, and get involved, since you’re there 24 hours a day, as opposed to 6 or 7.

And there’s nothing wrong with going home for the weekend. All of my friends go home for the weekend, and they live far as hell. While I, who basically live right next door, never go home. I don’t know, but I just don’t want to go home. I get bored to easily at home. I rather be at college. But there’s nothing wrong with going home for the weekend. I don’t personally do it, cause I’m weird, but it a pretty acceptable thing to do.
