Hey guys, first post…
I’ma 16 year old junior at acompetitivehigh rankingMissourihigh school. I’ve spent a lot of time recently trying togauge*admission odds at different schools, as I’m hopping to go to college in the fall of 2014.
In particular, I’m obsessed with McGill university. I love the french language, and that school would allow me topursuepassions in the sciences and math while developing greater fluency in the language of the city.I would really appreciate a personalassessmentof my chances of getting in, given my nontraditional academic history.
McGill excludes freshman grades in theiradditionprocess, which gives me a 3.67 after lastsemester and a 4.0 after weighing APs (biology chemistry and psychology). I spent mysophomoreyear in Berlin Germany at a public “gymnasium” (academicallyadvanced high school), but onlyreceivedpass/fail credit although I took standardized tests for their school systemreceivinga B+/A- overall. my only ACT scored a 29 (30 writing, 35 math, 28 science, 23 reading, 9 essay) which is not what I was hoping for, but I feel like my score will improve after another try (I had something of a panic attack during the reading section)especially*after a superscore calculation.
I’ve also taken classes at Washington university and gotten only As
my problems arise in my plans to leave my current high school, and move to NewOrleanswith a good friend of mine. I’ve saved a lot of money over the years doing street performance and working for various circuses as an acrobat, so I’ll be able to afford classes at acommunitycollege (Delgadocommunitycollege) whilefinishinghigh school online. I plan on taking AP courses through a program called K12, but I’m afraid it might lookweirdon an application.
Will thissabotagemy image? with otherinterestingqualities I’ve got (leader of FRC robotics club, member of a rocketry club, variousentrepreneurialprojects…), can I overcome the lack of a normal high school diploma?
