Bellevue College >> UW

Alright, well...I just got back from Austin, TX and I did not really like the city or the University of Texas. Seattle is still in my heart. :P

Anyways, I'm still kind of on the fence about what I should do. I'll be applying to college in the Fall and don't know if I should apply to UW. If I get in, I'd be paying 24k (at least) for the first year until I become a resident. That leads me to the next question that has been bothering me for a while. Should I just attend CC and then transfer? I'd be saving a TON of money and AFAIK the quality of education at any respectable CC is on par with many universities throughout the country.

Has anyone done this? I'm sure that there is someone on here that has, if not from BCC, then from some other WA college. Did ya think it a good choice to attend a CC and then transfer to UW?

Thanks!

Woops, I called it BCC. Haha, it has a ring to it unlike Bellevue College. :D

Many people successfully transfer from BC to UW. You should call advising and talk to them about the process. Also, the UW website has information on this.

i’m attending the uw in the fall, successfully transferring from shoreline community college, i’m really glad i did because i definitely saved a lot of money

i really like the smaller class sizes, u actually get some interaction with the teachers as well as individual attention
i was kinda bummed when all of my friends went straight from high school to the uw, but i will be joining them soon and i know that a lot of them struggled because they had a hard transition from high school straight to university
and i think it really prepared me to go on to university

i did end up saving a lot of money, and i’m transferring with 95 credits towards my degree, and probably with a higher gpa then if i had taken it at uw

i can’t say much about bellevue, i heard they had a great physics department though :)

If money’s tight, than BC is for you.

I really don’t like that line of thinking because it’s never a guarantee you’ll get into the school. Thank goodness I got into UW through my high school GPA. My community college is good but not UW good. A few years from now it could be easier or harder to get into it.

the uw has an agreement with washington state cc’s stating they will reserve a number of spots just for cc transfers
with good grades and a good essay i honestly can’t see why you wouldn’t get it, it’s not yale or Harvard we are talking about

plus it will be easier to get in as a resident rather than oos

Thanks guys. :)

However, if there are any more people which attended CC first (Bellevue or other CC), please do share your experience! :)

Hey SSC buddy :P

Many people actually recommend going to Bellevue College first before attending UW because freshmen classes have gotten so large at the UW. So to many people, there isn’t a point spending all the money taking general education classes at UW, when you can get the same credits at BC.

Just some things I’ve heard from other people.

Haha, hey! Aren’t you attending UW? :P

I guess I most likely will end up going to BC for a year or two. :D

I attended a Washington CC (not Belleve College) and got in. I’m glad I did, because I don’t see any point in paying that much money for the core curriculum. English 101 is the same everywhere–really.

Yep I’ll be attending UW. I’ll be dorming there, since Eastlink isn’t here yet :P

Thanks, Naturally. It’s good to hear that I’m not the only one that might do that. :P

Yeah, I kind of wish they’d finish it faster. I would not mind taking it places. Before I moved, I rode the bus a lot and it suited me well. A car wouldn’t be bad, either. :D

I am applying for BC and planning to transfer to another college after i get into pre-nursing.

Awesome. I’m still really considering going to BC and then later transferring, mostly because it will be quite a bit cheaper than UW.

if u r under 24, one of your parents will need to be a Washington state resident, or u r not able to prove your residency.

that’s actually not true at all
