Belmont Commercial Music Program

Has anyone reauditioned for Belmonts commercial music program and gotten accepted after being rejected the first time? My s auditioned with a broken wrist and only had a few weeks to prepare for his audition. He did not get accepted into the music program but has been accpeted into the university. His current music teacher was very surprised he did not get in and believes it was the sudden decision to audition with lack of adequate time for preparation. We need to make a decision soon on where to attend. He doesn't want to attend Belmont for the full duration if he does not get into the music performance program. But believes he will get accepted if he auditions again. Any advice?

You might want to repost here [Music Major - College Confidential](Music Major - College Confidential Forums) where you’ll most likely find folks a bit more program/major knowledgeable.

Audition pools are tricky, and the talent mix easily can change an outcome from cycle to cycle. They’re also instrument specific, and based on program need. Going into an audition unprepared or with a physical/health issue was not the best case scenario.

I would honestly address your question directly to the CM department, as they will have the historic info about internal/reaudition admits. You’ll also want to know how easy or seamless the process will be. Can he take major coursework as a non-major? Will he have access and lessons with applied faculty? You may not get answers, but if the audition committee liked what they heard, they may be more willing to work with a potential student that would be an asset, and just had a less than stellar audition due to a temporary physical issue.'

Good luck.

There is a wealth of knowledge over there.

Good luck!
