Belmont Hill, Noble Greenough, etc.

I’m applying to some private prep schools this year. I was wondering what your opinions are on how hard it is to get into Belmont Hill and Noble and Greenough. I would be going to this school for sports.

If you are being actively recruited and you are a good student it should be quite easy but you havent given us any real information

Well I have a 3.8. SSAT scores were in the 70th percentile overall last year. I would be repeating a grade. Do any of you know of other prep schools that are easy to get into?

Another thing to add is I am a minority. Is it easier to get into schools as a minority?

As you must know being an under represented minority (black or hispanic) is a huge advantage. I think you should target schools that 1) offer a strong program in your sport and 2) where your SSAT is right around their average. I assume you are Boston area? Nobles is pretty competitive but much easier for athletes.

I am in the Boston area. Do you know what schools are around the average of 70-80 percentile. Do you know where I could find this?

what year are you applying for entry?

I am in tenth grade applying for tenth grade.

you should try Buckingham Browne and Nichols. Great athletics, especially baseball and football. I’m pretty sure they were isl champions. I go there, and the academics are phoenominal, as well as the athletics. If your grades are decent, and you can get in touch with the coaches, I think you have a great chance if you are athletically talented. As a student at BB&N, I know of many kids whose grades aren’t amazing, but are extremely athletically gifted, and they are thriving at this school (this would apply to all schools, really. BB&N is definitely one of the larger ‘recruiting’ schools though).

Does anyone have any opinions on the River School?

Rivers*

Oh Rivers seems really cool I’m applying I think it’s around 70ish SSAT and it ha really athletics as well as academics

Anyone have any opinions on Thayer or Dexter?

Rivers football isn’t great to be honest, but I know for a fact that their soccer is amazing. It is quite isolated out in Westin, so be prepared to schlep over there if you don’t live around there already. And also, as @lucbp36 said, come to Buckingham Browne and Nichols! Great athletics, great football and soccer I can guarantee. Also, pls don’t go to Bel Hill #drillthehill (its a rivalry I don’t actually hate them).
Now for me to figure out who @lucbp36 is…

You might look at Worcester Academy. Sports are strong, the campus is uniquely urban and historic, nice balance of day and boarding (5-day and 7-day), and 40+ % of students on FA. Student body is very diverse and open and welcoming. New arts center, New Balance athletic fields and nice new turf field.
