Hello, I got into both and would like some opinions on which might be best. I know it’s subjective and a personal choice, but your opinions are greatly appreciated.
Here are some things about me:
- I can afford both.
- My major is biochemistry.
- My main interest is research.
- I intend to go to graduate school.
- I don't mind extreme weather.
- I am a white male.
- I like the outdoors.
Thanks!
I’d go with Beloit, because it’s stronger in the sciences, definitely has success in preparing for grad school, and good for the outdoors… but not so much that you should discount personal impressions. Have you visited? Can you visit?
Beloit is “quirkier” (march to the beat of your own drummer), laid back. Colder, obviously, though not in northern WI. About 2 hours from Chicago, 45mn to Madison. Absolutely take advantage of the ACM semester in Chicago to make business connection and start on internships (good program for 2nd semester sophomores).
Washington is “preppier”, a bit more conservative/traditional than Beloit. Warmer weather. About 90mn to Philadelphia.
Thank you, your response is much appreciated!
