I was ecstatic to find an acceptance packed from Beloit when I arrived home this afternoon. I thought the personalized acceptance letter was very considerate. Though Beloit isn’t my first pick, it is certainly growing on me. Unfortunately, I have not received a financial aid packet. My letter mentioned I will receive one prior to May 8th, though, when the school’s deposit is due. The Princeton Review’s book notes Beloit’s financial aid to be amongst the best in the country, number eight on their list I believe. Can anyone elaborate or expand on this? I have an extremely low EFC, under $1,000, so I’ll need a great amount of need-based aid.

Is anyone here planning on transferring to Beloit? Everything I read paints a brilliant picture of this school!

For Regular Admissions:

If Beloit admits a student with a low-EFC they WILL be able to MEET the EFC 100% with a combination of loans and grants (minimal amounts of loans). It is why they are need sensitive. They make sure they can make Beloit affordable for all admits and if they cannot provide enough aid they will not admit the student. So by admitting you I think it is safe to say you would get a great package, with probably 10-20% loans and the rest grants.

I am not sure about transfer, but I assume that it is a similar policy.

Thank you for the great information, it’s much appreciated.

In regards to transfers, anyone know around what GPA Beloit looks for?

Everytime,

I have accumulated 31 hours while maintaining a 4.0 and was admitted. Certainly a 4.0 isn’t needed to transfer to Beloit, though. I think anything over a 3.5 will make an applicant competitive, a strong recommendation and good essays are also needed.

It seems that test scores (within reason) are pretty irrelevant to Beloit for transfer students. I scored on the lower half of Beloit’s ACT average (26).

Well, I just received my financial aid estimate and am very pleased. My need was nearly 100 percent met, essentially $30,000 in grants/work study and $10,000 in loans. I’ll submit my deposit shortly, though i’m still waiting to hear from other schools.

No other Beloit transfers here on CC?

If you don’t mind me asking…did Beloit figure that your need was around the same as the FAFSA? Also, what was your EFC? I am thinking about applying for Fall 2010 and I want an idea about how much aid they would give me with my EFC.

They meet FAFSA EFC, unless they feel there are special circumstances, which I think they will contact you about.

My financial aid situation is rather unique as I am an “independent” student, despite me only being 19 years old. As a result of this, I don’t have an actual EFC, though I still fill out a Fafsa. It is up to the individual schools to come up with an EFC for me. It’s a complicated, sometimes frustrating process.

My aid was essentially 100 percent met. Whatever your EFC is, I’m nearly positive Beloit will come very close to meeting your aid.
