Some are a reach.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this.

Unfortunately I don’t know about a lot of these schools, but American and BU will be reaches. Two pieces of advice- remember that a state school will give you a good education for less money, and Loren Pope’s COLLEGES THAT CHANGE LIVES is a good resource for students with more than a few B’s on their transcripts.

PS- look at schools that don’t consider freshman grades. a 3.45 is very respectable, especially if you’ve got some APs. A 3.13 is less so.

Yeah, I agree. American and BU are definitely reaches. The middle GPA for American was a… 3.6-3.8? (could be wrong) SAT middle was around a 1800-2100 and ACT was a 26-29? (Also could be wrong, but around there). I do not know much about the other colleges you have listed-- but I heard Loyola is probably about the same as American? Also, it is an advantage that you have boosted your GPA throughout the 3 years of high school. Did something happen your freshman year, or did you not care?

I think you’ve got a good shot at Loyola.
American BU are definite reaches. You probably have a shot at UMD since you’re in-state.
Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah American and BU are definitely reachs- I think I have a decent shot at HPU.
Also , UMD is going to be hard to get into— Any other college suggestions? I like College of Charleston?

Peggysue,

Without talking directly to an admission office, how can you tell which colleges don’t consider freshman grades? In other words, they calculate GPA for only the other 2 or 2.5 years? I thought I’d seen every list online in existence, but this one would be very valuable.

Laurie

I’d say you’re good for High Point, which is an amazing school.
Loyola Maryland Campus? If so, I’d say you’re pretty good for that one too.
American might not be too much of a reach, my friend got in with some stats that weren’t stellar back in '08.
I don’t know about the rest of the schools, sorry.
Just focus on taking your SAT again, goodluck. :D

High Point is amazing lol I loved it when I visited Thanks for taking the time to chance me. :)
