I had no clue UIUC had its own forum...how cool.

I'm a senior in high school and spring is fast approaching. My academic record has risen from sophomore yr but I have a low GPA: 3.66/5.0 and my ACT test score is low:19. I'm applying as a general student in LAS. What are my chances at UIUC and MSU(Michigan State Uni.)?

GPA:3.66/5.0
Rank:50/167
Ethnicity:Asian

Extracurricular Acitivities/Honors:Soccer and Track 2 yrs, COR(Catholics Opposing Rascism) 3 yrs, Band 3yrs (Vice President), Marching Band 2 yrs, All-Catholic Honors Band, volunteer work in schools Soup Kitchen Program, and a part job at Spherion Pampered Chef Convention.

So you found your home place huh?

yea, after 3 months of searching...sheesh.

For evaluating your chances at UIUC, go here to see the middle 50% ranges for 2005 freshman http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/prospective/ugrad/ugchances.html
Also be aware that less than 1% of those admitted to LAS have an ACT score below 20.

Chances of Mich St may be better but your stats still place you a little below its usual 50% range and Mich St favors in state residents over out-of-state.

So my chances are nada. Man I feel awful now. Hopefully they'll read my essays.

the 1% that had below 20 probably had something to make up for it... not just essays.

i dont know how your gpa works, but if thats like a 2.6 on a 4.0 scale, you might as well save the money.
