@u§ername: gracias!

I wouldn't put Bhutto to THAT place! she didn't do THAT much or even close to their achievements.

The Arabic word islam is related to the Syriac 'aslem which means "to make peace, surrender" and that in turn appears to be derived from the Semtic stem of *slem which means "to be complete." The Arabic word islam is thus also closely related to the Arabic word for peace, salem. Muslims believe that true peace can only be achieved through true obedience to the will of Allah.

that's from your site.....but whatever. It has roots in both.

when someone says "assalamualaikum" salam means peace...it doesn't mean any closer to submission. But whatever. The literal translation is Submission to god. It has roots relating to peace. that's all i got. I'm not going to argue on the meaning.

asifkhan I wouldn't put bhutto anywhere near those people either.

I'm not going to argue either! :D now u got the point that Peace is not the "best word" to describe the meaning of Islam! I'm not disproving that Peace isn't associated w/ Islam.

Patel, I find truth in your comment. Mahatmas Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah were both great figures as well. However, there are many political figures I like. However, when I said those statements - I meant a Pakistani politician and one that was brutally assassinated in my lifetime.

@Sheed - I meant "everyone I know". I should've clarified that appropriately. And secondly, she named her son as chairperson and her husband as CO-chairperson. The only thing is that she wanted her son to complete his studies at Oxford University, and then he could take up the role after his education. And many people have said that he shouldn't be co-chairperson because he is corrupt. Even he said, on GEO NEWS, he didn't want to interfere with the Bhutto name. Her son seems very gregarious and nice. And yes, I am a guy. What gender are you?

home girl was smart.

I'm a guy too. :D

Benazir Bhutto's son named to succeed her as party leader - MarketWatch

That says that The wife picked the husband to lead until the son finishes school.

why would she do that if he was corrupt?

I really cannot answer that question because I am not Benazir Bhutto - she died tragically a few days ago. lol However, that is a good question - one that i am still wondering. Bilawal stated that his mother did that until he completed his education - so she really probably didn't want him except he would be the righteous heir because she wanted it to stay in the family. Bilawal and Asif Zardari were the only possible family candidates but she probably had to make the husband temporary chairman because there was no other possible candidate. Besides, he was corrupt to the media and people - not to his wife. She married him and of course, she would never think of him as corrupt so she saw no problem. Also, you are Libyan. Are you fluent in Arabic?

Yea, im fluent :D why?

No, i was just wondering because of the whole controversy of what the word "Islam" means.

what has it got to deal w/ whether Sheed is fluent or not?

It had nothing to do w/ that. I was just curious, lol. I want to learn Arabic and French. I love those 2 languages.
