My mother, my aunt, and my uncle are USC Alumni and my brother currently attends.
My dad is the chairman of an engineering department at USC.
I really don't want his position to be the primary reason that I get in, but if it helps, then it's all good :]

Thanks!

First the splash of cold water: I know of two applicants (2 years ago) with parents who are long-time teachers at USC (one in Art, one in SCA) who were not admitted. I do not know their school records, so cannot say what was up, but the message is clear that USC does not accept students in any advantaged category simply because of that tip.

However, in the case of OP ^^, you’re grades and SAT score seem in range for recent admits, and your family connection will not hurt you at all. Your ECs may be a little on the light side, but if you have strong essays and a good letter of rec, you seem well-qualified.

You probably know the details of your brother’s application, and I’d think your dad has more inside scoop on admissions than most of us here on cc. What do they think of your chances???

Best of luck.
