Benefits of FIRST St. Louis competition?

My team won Chairman's at regional and therefore we are going to St. Louis... my dad on the other hand doesn't think I will get anything out of the experience. In your opinion, what can I gain from attending/will it help me on my college application?
Thanks!

Your post is bereft of details. what is the St Louis competition?

Go. It is nothing that you have ever experienced before. You will meet other teams from around the world. There is also a big college “fair” set up with a number of colleges that give FIRST robotics scholarships. Many companies are there too, and you can find out about internships and other opportunities.

GO!!!

Oh, and congrats on chairman’s award!! Is this your teams first FIRST championship?

No, it’s our ninth, but the first time I have been invited to go with the team. Thanks for responding.

For the FRC (FIRST robotics competition) division of FIRST (for inspiration and recognition of science and technology).
