Benefits of taking both the SAT and ACT?

I was wondering how taking the ACT and SAT would be better than just sending in the SAT.
Right now, I have a 2280 in the SAT and I'm pretty sure I can score 33-36 on the ACT. Is there any benefit to taking the ACT? Or would I be fine without it? Would getting high scores on both somehow offset my rather low gpa of 3.69 (most rigorous course load)?

I'm planning on applying to the Top 50 schools; Anywhere between top 50 to top 15.

You would be fine without it. Only benefit might be that you might become eligible for a few more scholarships (likely not affiliated with any schools)

Edit: While your 2280 is a great score (don't let anyone tell you otherwise) if you were to score a 36 on the ACT (maybe even a 35? I don't know the score equivalencies) then that would help as colleges will look to your highest scores of the two tests. Also, by taking the ACT, you might be able to avoid writing any SATIIs, depending on the colleges you are looking at.

Oh ok, thanks! I'll probably focus on the SAT IIs then, since many of the schools I want to apply to require SAT or ACT and SAT II.
