I'm so worried about my SAT scores. I am satisfied with my SAT math and writing scores (each 700+). However, I got 540 on verbal. I'm deaf; hence, I can't absorb vocabulary and other elements of language through conversational speech. This is consistent for all deaf students. My guidance counselor already explained my verbal score in his letter of recommendation. Will MIT or other schools still hold my verbal score against me?

Doubt it. Your disability outweighs. Try writing some nice essays about it--and somehow I don't think I'll hold it against you if you don't use big words! good luck.

first of all being deaf will compensate for verbal difficulty. second, the verbal score probably doesnt matter that much at all compared to your math score at MIT, which you said was 700+. id say dont worry, be happy :)

Thanks guys. You made me feel a little better.

Of course. I'm sure they'd love to have you. Need more people with different perspectives on college campuses :)

Indeed! I would also venture a guess that the MIT reps are with their families over the break, so that's likely why they aren't responding. :).

Except for MollieB, who needs to have CollegeConfidentially taken intraveneosly every day.

(Being in California and mostly away from the internet for five days was very hard for me. Ironically, I was also mostly away from my other addiction, Mountain Dew... it was a hard five days.)

Hope,

We evaluate everything in context - so I wouldn't worry.
