Bentley or Boston U?

From what I see Bentley has a better rank on undergraduate business programme, but its rank is not as good as BU in general. But seems that BU is more recognized in the nation or even world wide, though people have been criticizing the job placement and the grade deflation about it.

Do you think I should pick one which is better in business and focus mainly on business or to go BU which I can take some other minors? Is BU’s career service/connection and grade deflation a big problem?

Also, in terms of other factors such as general teaching quality, students/professors there or social scene, which one do you think is better?

Thank you very much!

anyone can help?

I think I'd pick Bentley because they do have a better business problem. And their career placement is much much better than BU's.

I think Bentley, the campus is nicer IMO. I think they also do better with business...Placement and academics.

Bentley is much better in terms of life and all than BU... I mean no campus?

I got into both but currently attend Bentley. I’ve visited BU many times because three of my friends went there.

It ultimately depends on what you want. BU has a very nice urban campus as opposed to Bentley, which is kind of on the outskirts of Boston in a suburban setting. The social life at BU is much more lively because you are right on Commonwealth Ave with many bars and restaurants nearby. Each weekend you’ll see plenty of students walking along in groups to hit up block parties and Greek events. Bentley kids either need a car or will have to take a shuttle bus (30 min) into Harvard Square, from which point they will need to take the T (another 20-30 min) to get into the heart of Boston. Partying at Bentley itself can be fun at times, but they will get boring very quickly because it just consists of dorm/apartment parties. Moody street, which has lots of bars, is close to Bentley but again, you need a car or friends with a car to get there.

Reputation-wise, BU is more worldly and better known throughout the world. Within New England, both have some good reputations, but if you ask anyone from say Florida, they would likely have no idea that Bentley is a college.

Academics wise, I do understand that BU has some grade deflation. Bentley also has smaller courses, probably better facilities from my own experience, and a trading room. So I give this one to Bentley, particularly with the strength of their finance and accounting programs.

Ultimately, you need to satisfy yourself with what you want out of college. If I had to do it all over again, I think I would have chosen BU primarily for the social scene. Bentley is kind of small with 4,000 students and the campus can be quite constricting without means of transportation.

DEFINITELY Bentley. Bentley ranks #35 among national Business schools right after Babson. BU ranks #60 among national universities. So it is clear that Bentley is a lot better than BU in their Business program. If you don’t wanna be one of those losers who don’t get a job after getting their Business undergrad degree, I suggest go to Bentley.

^ You are sadly mistaken if all you do is judge a school’s worth on “Businessweek’s top 30 undergraduate programs” rankings. They are so very subjective and are created with at the very best, dubious calculations that one needs to take with a grain of salt.

You will be able to get a job from either school just fine if you do well and take a proactive approach. Fit is a lot more important.

thank you very much krazyk! u gave me a realli good two side analysis which helps a lot :)

I would definitely choose Boston University, simply because more people in the “Business World” are more knowledgable of BU. Some people know of Bentley and while it is a great school, many people still don’t acknowledge it. You would have an easier chance of getting a better job after graduation if you go to BU, my dad went there and graduated Magna Cum Laude and had job offers right out of college. Good Luck!

For finance i would go with Bentley. Better placements and education for finance.
