Thanks very much for any and all opinions.

Well, Northeastern does have a coop program, which can give kids a lot of experience and contact;however, overall, Bentley would seem to have the best overall reputation in both Finance and Accounting.

You don't think the SOM at BU is that highly regarded? What about the business school at GWU -- son also really likes GW and is just trying to figure out if Bentley has as much "name recognition" as Bentley. Obviously in Boston I know Bentley has a good reputation, but what about elsewhere?

Thanks again for your thoughts!

I meant to say,son is wondering if Bentley has as much name recognition as GW! Thanks

While I'm on a roll, what about Babson v. Bentley? I know Babson's strength is its entrepreneurial program, but what about its accounting and/or finance?

Folks, a lot depends on where you want to work. Bentley has a strong reputation in New Englland. GW has a strong reputation in Wash DC. However, Bentley started as a school for financie and accounting. You really need to see their unmatched trading room for finance.

In addition, Bentley has a lot of choices in the finance and accounting area. For example, you can major in financie, financial planning, mathamatical finance etc. My son goes there for grad school, and I am incredibly impressed with the school. It's ony drawback is that it is a small school of about 5,000 kids, one-thousand of which are grad students.

While GW has a very strong reputation for political science and law, it's reputation overall for business isn't that strong.

As for Northeastern, I have rarely heard any rave about the quality of their academics. All people talk about is their coop, which only goes so far.

Reputation-wise I think all three schools are pretty much equal outside of the new england/boston area. Bentley is very business focused whereas Northeastern and BU are much more spread out in their academics. When choosing a school you should NOT choose based on reputation. Look at location, fit, environment, academics, compatibility, etc.

If you read the faculty bios, you can see which place has professors whose credentials and connections will be the most helpful for you. (You can easily find this information on any college website.) Bentley's finance faculty has more publications in prestigious finance journals and attends more prestigious academic conferences than the faculties at Babson, NE or GW. However, that may mean that some of the finance classes are more rigorous than those at the other schools, and more difficult courses may not suit everybody.
