I got accepted at Bentley university and Fordham Gabelli school of business for Business management. I want to take Business management with a marketing or finance major and I cant decide between the 2,Any suggestions would really help. I am considering job offers , good courses and good social culture as determinants.
THANKS.

In terms of what school is better for business you can’t really compare the two. Bentley is a top 20 business school fordham is a top 50 school. Bentley is a better business school. What should influence your decision the most is the type of experience you want out of school. Do you want Brooklyn/ NYC or Waltham/Boston. Personally Boston is more of a college city and you can enjoy weekends with other college students from BU, BC, Harvard, MIT, Wellesley (all girls school), Brandeis, and of course Bentley.

Thanks. But do you also think that since there are so many students in Boston with all top schools around, would that be more competition for jobs in comparison to Fordham?

Personally i intended to go to work in NY since i am from NJ about 40 minutes from the city. You will see that if you attend Bentley the Big Four accounting firms will be at the career fairs looking to recruit. A lot of places prefer Bentley students because of their strong business background. Recruiters have said that they love Bentley and if they could take all interns/ first years from Bentley they would, but they need to get variety. An E&Y recruiter recently told me that out of the new people taken every year a good portion were from Bentley. Bentley is well known in the region and the name will carry weight with it.

Both great schools. You have to ask yourself the type of environment you want to study in? In the Bronx Zoo or Waltham Ma? Fordham also has the Lincoln center campus, but it isn’t much of a campus. You should consider NYC as your campus if you like the city. Bentley has a nice suburban campus, not much history but has a great reputation in the New England. There is no where in the country like the Boston area to attend school with all the major university and students. Fordham is more national where as Bentley is focus on just business with some liberal arts. Fordham would offer more options if you were to change majors. Fordham has a required core classes where as Bentley does have it but it isn’t as extensive.
I’m a big fan of Jesuit teaching and the president of Fordham. My son was accepted with a academic scholarship 2 years ago but decided to go to the midwest since NYC is too close to home.

My son was accepted to both a few years ago. Bentley gave him a much better scholarship and we were impressed by Bentley, but he ended up choosing Fordham. One of the reasons was that he wasn’t 100% certain that he wanted business and Bentley doesn’t really offer any appealing alternatives. Another reason was that he ultimately wants to work in NYC and can even get an internship during the school year at Fordham if he wants. Also, my husband is in HR and in NYC Bentley doesn’t have as much name recognition as Fordham. We were concerned about the competition in Boston with so many good business schools in one city, but since he didn’t go there I’m not certain whether or not that would have presented a problem. I know that the big 4 accounting firms recruit quite a bit at Fordham also.
