Bentley vs Fordham???

Hi! I am currently a high school senior and I intend on majoring in finance next year with the goal of getting a job at a major investment banking firm (J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, etc). I applied to 15 schools with Bentley as my number one. However, a few weeks ago I was accepted to the Gabelli School of Business (Rose Hill) at Fordham and now I am extremely conflicted as to which school I would like to attend (Bentley or Fordham). Yes Fordham is right in NYC, however I like how Bentley’s curriculum is focused strictly on business and their career services is ranked #1 in the nation. Which would be the better school to attend for a finance major and does anyone know if any of the major investment banks recruit at Bentley?

If you don’t get any answers on here I recommend going over to wall street oasis and asking the same question because they focus more on IB recruitment there. I don’t know which you should choose but I"m applying to both for transfer (finance in fall 2017) so I’m curious which you end up choosing

Are they both affordable?

Congrats on the acceptances. Those were two of my S’s top schools (he was an accounting major) and he chose Fordham. Both great universities. However, the reason that Bentley is attractive to you (that it is so business oriented) was what turned my S towards Fordham. He preferred a more well rounded school, having students with different interests, and being able to switch into a liberal arts major at the same school in case he didn’t enjoy his business coursework (he did have a great 4 years at Gabelli). But I can absolutely see where an college with Bentley’s business focus would be preferable to others.

I would look into these things:
–In terms of recruiting by investment banks, I would contact the career placement office at both schools to try to get information on that. I don’t think either school is a particular target for the investment banks but I imagine that some students can get in the door at those firms.
–One reason Bentley career services is rated so highly is that the school is so business geared so it can be very targeted.
–I would look at the liberal arts core curriculum at Fordham (should be able to be found online) and see if you are OK with it.

I LOVED Bentley and got in with the half tuition scholarship. I also loved Fordham but even with the merit offered it was unaffordable. In the end I chose Temple, for COA but also because I was nervous about going to a school with only business. My instincts were right, brcause even though I just finished my first semester at Temple with a 3.88, I just wasn’t feeling the business major, and have already switched my major to education for spring, which was very easy to do and I could not have done at Bentley. I did love love love Bentley, though!

yeah i will definitely keep you posted!

How much would you have had to pay for Fordham with merit?
