berk requirement for ccc students?

got this at assist.org

"All students who graduate from Berkeley must satisfy the American Cultures
Breadth Requirement by passing one Berkeley American Cultures course (or
approved community college course), with a grade of C- or P. American Cultures courses may also satisfy other requirements, such as Berkeley college's or school's breadth requirements or a department's major requirement."

okay sorry for the stupid question but does that mean I (poli sci major) need to complete that (either at berk or at my ccc)?? or is this for a different major?

it says right in front of us ALL STUDENTS

fulfill this requirement at your CC where its easy haha rhymes.

It'd be more convenient to satisfy it at your CC -- and as ilovecalifornia pointed out, it does say ALL STUDENTS WHO GRADUATE FROM BERKELEY -- but it might be a little less painful if you take it at Berkeley. You aren't required to take it before you transfer, but you will probably find that what your CC offers that covers it doesn't interest you at all (and there are only a few options) whereas at Berkeley it is often integrated with an otherwise "normal" class. Take a look at the schedule of classes, searching specifically for "American Cultures" requirements, and you'll see.

there are few if any american culture classes that qualify for a transfer from a CC, 99% of transfers to berkeley will take american cultures classes AT berkeley.

so i can fulfill that here so i wouldnt need to take it up there..awesome

check out that link please. does that mean i need to take poli 15 AND poli 16? or does it mean that i need to take one of the classes...on the top it says that i need to take a class (so i'm guessing one?) but at the bottom where it lists the classes it doesnt say "or"...it just lists both of em. what do you guys think?

how many classes would i need to take @ berk to fulfill this requirement? is it a lot or what...since aren't mostly upper division classes just geared toward ur major?

ack dont think that link worked...jsut check out assist.org and look @ de anza to berk and look at the american culture requirement

No, it means you can take EITHER Pol 15 OR Pol 16.

ETA: It also says at the top, when describing the requirement, that you can satisfy it "by passing one Berkeley American Cultures course."

ETA2: Go here: http://schedule.berkeley.edu/srchfall.html Type "American Cultures" in the "Additional Information" field near the bottom. If you want, pick a department you think you'd be interested in taking such a class from (particularly if it's social sciences or English) and you'll see what kinds of classes are offered at Berkeley that cover the requirement.

"there are few if any american culture classes that qualify for a transfer from a CC, 99% of transfers to berkeley will take american cultures classes AT berkeley."

Basically, it'll also help if you take the AC requirement here because you need to complete six semester units outside your major. So two birds with one stone if possible.

wouldn't it just be nice to finish this one class @ my ccc though? i mean i could take it p/np it looks like...and it wouldn't impact my gpa for when i transfer ?

it's just one class, it's not like its several classes and its going to make you graduate a year later.

You can also use it as an opportunity to explore any one of Berkeley's myriad number of top departments.
