Berkeley 2011 Appeal Thread

I’ve been accepted to Davis and I am on Waitlist to SD. Then I have appeals to Berkeley and UCLA and I’m hoping my legacy status helps me out at USC although I’ve yet to receive my decision from there.

Is USC decision coming all at once or rolling? I got my decision two weeks ago. and my friend which majors in EE got in three weeks ago.

It seems to be rolling but at this point I have no idea anymore. Who knows, maybe it’s a bad sign for me, haha.

Could anyone post the rejection letter from Cal? I’m curious to see how it’s worded. Thank you and good luck to everyone who appealed!

Dear (Your Name Here),

Thank you for applying to UC Berkeley. After careful consideration, I am sorry to inform you that UC Berkeley is unable to offer you admission for Fall 2011.

Transfer decisions were very difficult this year, as competition for fall admission was exceptionally rigorous. Berkeley was able to admit less than a third of the 16,000-plus transfer applications, all of whom were very well qualified. I regret that many talented and promising transfer students will not be included in our entering class because of this high level of selectivity. I have prepared the answers to some frequently asked questions which provide additional information about the selection process and, I hope, address your concerns.

Given your academic qualifications, I know that you will receive other attractive college offers. I wish you every success in achieving your educational goals.

Sincerely,

Walter A. Robinson
Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director, Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Did everyone appeal to Cal summit their SIR to other school yet?

I’m still waiting personally. I figure if I don’t hear back from anyone soon, I’ll sign it with 2 days to go or whatnot.

I SIR’d to UCLA and completed the housing application as soon as I could, since the initial decision date was well into June anyway.

Silenthillnight–I haven’t SIR yet, I want to wait until May 31. June 1 will be my new beginning. haha…try to stay in positive.

dmitry–We applied for some major for Cal, what is your major in UCLA? I am Math Applied science.

Its interesting that you have to mail an appeal to Cal and for ucla appeals, all you have to do is submit it electronically through the ucla decisions page.

True but at least Cal gives you the option of sending in recs as well. UCLA won’t take them whatsoever.

I’m allied math but I’m going to try to switch to the Math/Applied Science individual track since applied math at UCLA isn’t really relevant to my interests. I didn’t read the description closely enough when I signed up for applied math there (I wasn’t even expecting to get in to that)

Just did some researches from similar threads of last few years. Basically, I guess the earliest decisions would not be released until May 27th. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. :)

Silenthillnight and citusguy.

Thanks for your encouragement… I did apply by the deadline way back when.
My appeal is still pending. Meanwhile, I got into USC… My chances of going are slim - its 70k a year and my FAFSA doesn’t make me eligable for shi*.
If I don’t get into Berkeley I’m probly going to end up going to SFState…
Good luck to the rest of you guys… I know the anticipation is crazy.

P.S. It’s true. No TAGs for UCLA or UCB. :P

Let our information to be organized, let’s do this. please write down our majors we are appealing.
