Berkeley 2012 Appeal Thread (For Transfer Students)

@phonon14: I have the screenshot of how my myBerkeleyApplication looks like after they received my appeal letters, I’d like to show you that, but I just don’t know how to post it here…

@Bozioless: Thank you Bozioless, hope you will hear good news from Cal soon :)

@peipeigloria: If you already have the screenshot saved as an image file, you can upload it to ■■■■■■■[dot]com. Theres other image hosting sites, but I usually use this one because it’s name is easy to remember lol. Once uploaded, copy the url link under “URL for E-Mail & IM” and post it here. Remember to edit out your personal information =]

(Oh yeah, there is also imageshack[dot]us but I think they require an account now)

Anyone else in the same position who does not have confirmation of their appeal being received?

I’m still waiting for a decision. I have 3.74, but 4.0 in major. I think I was rejected for missing a pre-req, which was only offered once at my college and conflicted with my schedule. I had all per-reqs for a similar major, so focused on that, and included samples of creative and academic output. I didn’t focus on hardship though, which I heard is the only type of appeal considered. Still waiting it out. Longshot to zero is what I hear, but admissions did say today that they had a few spots.

I did see my appeal being posted as under review, but I sent my appeal on 5/2.

Also, admissions told me today that they were still reviewing appeals that didn’t make it by the deadline, but those people would not hear back until AFTER Friday. So maybe those of you who send right on the 15th are still being reviewed.

Ok im kind of freaking out.
I was accepted to the spring semester but the non-profit I intern for wants me to be going in the fall along with another intern (long story).
I sent my appeal on the 11th to get Fall 2012 admission to see what would happen.
Didn’t have my fingers crossed.
I logged on to my application to sign my SIR for spring because I hadn’t heard back on the appeal, and I was unable to. It simply said, “In Review” I hope this doesnt interfere with my acceptance into spring as I only have tomorrow to sign my SIR!
Am I screwed?

I would call admissions first thing when they open. It was easy to get through this morning. Congrats on Spring! Are you a Freshman? I didn’t know they offered Spring slots to transfers. Berkeley is my dream school. I would be thrilled to get a spot in Spring. Don’t worry. If you were offered a spot, it didn’t go away just because you appealed. Good luck!

Thanks for the kind words you guys!!

Bozioless, I’ll probably go to UCLA. =)

Anyone know when UCLA will release their appeal decisions?
Sorry, off-topic!

:)

I was rejected from UCLA and only applied to UCSB and UC Santa Cruz. Not that excited by either school and still hoping Cal appeal goes through. Congrats on UCLA and UCSD. Anyone have an opinion about Santa Barbara Vs Santa Cruz? Comp Lit

@bluetea: Both are great schools. I have friends who are going to UCSC and UCSB, they all say that they’re great schools. Both campuses are beautiful, but I don’t know much about their comp lit programs.

Did Cal admissions say anything about appeal decisions getting released today?

Bluetea, I know a lot of people who went to UCSC and loved it. SIR to both and go check out the schools and pick the one you fall in love with. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. …but I heard UCSB was gorgeous. lol seriously though, do your research and go with the one that grabs you.

Bozioless… in the old threads people said they called in and were able to get results prior to them being posted. You might want to try that.

Also, do you guys know how to start a thread? I want to start a UCLA transfer dorm thread… I’m getting worried about being stuck with someone super young lol (I’m 28).

^Do NOT SIR to multiple campuses. They will find out and could potentially withdraw your admission to both campuses.

Thanks for feedback. Both schools seem great. I did SIR to both and spoke to Santa Cruz admissions yesterday. They told me I would get a letter from the chancellor in about a week requesting a letter that I do not intend to register at Santa Barbara. I’m just waiting on Cal, whose results will be out tomorrow by noon for those whose appeals were post marked by 5/15. I will withdraw SIR from SB or SC before the deadline once I hear from Cal. I called Cal and they wouldn’t give me an answer over the phone. Just said they were in the process of rolling out decisions this week. Some expected today. They are apparently still considering appeals from people who didn’t make the 5/15 deadline, but they will not hear back until after tomorrow.

I don’t know how to create a thread, so not sure, but I think you can talk to the transfer student advisor at UCLA about your concerns and get some suggestions.

Good luck everyone. Can’t wait to have this phase behind me and know where I am going. The education we get will be up to us no matter where we go. All the UCs are well respected and offer opportunities for growth and engagement if we choose to take it! Peace.

The harder I work, the luckier I get.

I feel extremely blessed to be accepted to UCB, my dream school. Like mcheng, I got a FinAid e-mail.

The date on the e-mail (cutoff), shows April 27th, 2012. I guess they were reviewing appeals at this time.

Goodluck to the rest of you and for those that didn’t make it. You guys will do great at your respective schools!

GSG900, congrats!! That is fantastic. Did this email come today? May I ask the focus of your appeal ans what you included?

oh my god, i got accepted by appeal!

Congratulations! I am delighted to welcome you to the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Berkeley for Spring 2013, which starts in January.
I realize you did not apply for the spring term, but I know if you accept our offer you will be a strong addition to the campus. Your deferred admission is not a reflection on your academic or personal performance, but rather an indication of the size and rigor of our transfer applicant pool which numbered more than 15,700 this year.
The next step for you to take is formal acceptance of this admission offer. Everything you need to do and know is available in the Next Steps section on the Home page (click the Home tab above) in myBerkeleyApplication.

Again, congratulations and welcome to the University of California, Berkeley! Enjoy this moment and picture yourself at Berkeley, a place where, given your exceptional abilities, you will enjoy tremendous success and make unique contributions.
Sincerely,
Anne De Luca signature

oh my god, i can’t believe this.

Phmiracle! This is incredible. I am so happy for you (and jealous). I have yet to hear the results of my appeal and can’t help but think if 2 people from this thread alone have already been accepted by appeal that doesnt bode well for me. I heard that 3 in 1000 got in last year through appeal. May I ask your stats? What was your focus in the appeal? I will find out tomorrow, but just curious what types of appeals made it through. Congrats again. You rock!
