My top choice school is UC Berkeley, however I just got rejected from UCLA the other day and now I'm really worried that I won't get into UCB... Is it common to get rejected from UCLA and admitted into UCB?
Here's my stats:
SAT: reading: 700 (750 on previous test)
Math: 710
writing: 690
Total: 2100
SAT II: Lit: 730
Physics: 800
Math II: 650
weighted UC gpa: 4.35
unweighted:3.95

Are you a CA resident? If so, I’d guess around 30-40% chance of getting in.

My ACT=33, SAT=2070, SAT II=BIO-E, SAT II MATH II = 680, GPA=3.89/4.11

I got denied at UCLA, in at Irvine and SD. Wondering about Berkeley. NOT a CA resident.

Alright, thanks

ya, I’m a CA resident

i disagree with truman. at my school, people routinely get in with stats way lower. i say youre in, ucla tends to be a bit more random though

My sister got rejected from UCLA but accepted at Berkeley. UCLA is just odd.

You got unlucky, don’t dwell on it.

Rumor has it UCLA and Berkeley share admission decisions so that some people don’t get into both to open up slots for others. This has always been denied by the university reps but we live in a liar’s world.

I didn’t end up getting in, thanks for all your input though! Now it’s kinda down to either UCSD or honors program at UCSB…

It was actually much easier for OOS and International students to get into UCB and UCLA this year cuz of california budget cuts…

Ya, everything is pretty messed up right now. Maybe I’ll end up there for grad school or something. How about you? Did you apply to schools this year?

I applied as an international applicant requiring no aid to UCB and was accepted
Also accepted to UCLA, SD, David, Irvine
2180 SAT, 4.2 UC GPA - rest was average

I got accepted with a 3.6 weighted GPA, and a 2210 sat score (750 writing / math, 710 reading), 750 math II, 780 chem. Job experience as a soccer referee (lol) and recreational soccer as an extracurricular.
They must have really liked my essay, but the funnies thing is that I got waitlisted at irvine, and denied at several private colleges which aren’t nearly as good as cal.
