hi there,

I just got admitted by Berkeley. I would love to know if is it easy/possible to declare a different major from my application?

I would love to declare my major as Political Economy. As my understanding, we can declare our major after completing our pre-req, so I can probably change my major to PE. Is it true?

I wonder if any people here did declare another major rather than the one they first applied?

I have talked to the admission officer , and she told me I may or may not declare PE as my major, which make me MORE confused...

PLEASE HELP!!!! THANKS GUYS.

Yes. See if you can do it at Calso. If you have the pre-reqs it should be easy.
If you don’t then they might make you take them.
You can also double major if you’d like.

Good luck

*edit: I’m a senior transfer student at UC Berkeley

Thanks MortimerC:

I wonder if we are able to register classes in CalSo? Wht do we do in CalSo?

Yes you register for classes at Calso. You get to know the people in your group/ get to make your first friends. Take some instructive classes/ meet important people around the campus. Meet with your major advisers etc. Calso is a good experience.

a caveat to my first post. This is all contingent upon the major you want to switch to being in the same college. You can’t change your major from English to hass or chemical engineering or something crazy like that.

what major did you put on your application…?

MortimerC: Okay! Thanks! I think I am going to CalSo I just PM you, please check!
