Berkeley computer science

I'm applying for UCs right now and Berkeley's major list has two choices for computer science, one is under EECS and one is under letter of science, can someone elaborate more about these 2 options? Thanks.

The EECS path is appropriate for people who want an engineering education and do not want to come to Berkeley unless they are guaranteed a CS major. The L&S path is appropriate for people who are interested in a broader education in the sciences and arts, are prepared to consider majors other than CS, and/or are not sure at the time of application that they can gain admission to EECS.

EECS description: General Catalog - Computer Science (Engineering)
CS(non-engineering) description:General Catalog - Computer Science (Letters & Science)

does choosing EECS decrease my chance of getting in, do you know?

Basically, EECS is harder to get into, and the classes are harder. You're in the college of engineering instead of the general college which L&S. They take a lot of the same classes, but EECS students have to take more classes related to electrical engineering.

Thanks for the info!
