Thank you. Also if you could suggest better matches for me that would be nice too.

I will chance you ASAP (if you put your link in the comment)

I think your stats are similar to mine and i am applying to the same schools so you are a competitive candidate. However, you are lacking a “Hook”.

bump 10 char

UCI - Pretty much guaranteed
UCLA - match
U of Chicago - no idea <- you sure you’re up for doing their bizzare app?
UCBerkley - reach
Carnegie Mellon no idea
Caltech -reach
CSUFullerton - safety?
Rice - no idea
NYU - match
Cornell - match/reach (any ivy and equivalent university is always a reach. there are no guarantees now matter how good your grades are)
Stanford - reach
MIT - reach
Uof Illinois Urbana Champaign - match

do you by any chance go to troy high school?

UCI: match
UCLA: match
U of Chicago: reach
UCBerkley: low reach
Carnegie Mellon: ?
Caltech: low reach
CSUFullerton: most definitely
Rice: ?
NYU: match
Cornell: low reach
Stanford: reach
MIT: reach
Uof Illinois Urbana Champaign: ?

I don’t know a whole lot about the Computer Science major and how competitive it is at these schools. However, you have a good SAT, decent GPA, and good ECs showing your interest and skill in computer science and this will help you into these schools. Good luck!

why yes i do…and im guessing you go to whitney, oxford, or uni?

by uni are you talking about university high school in irvine?

yes (10 char)

bump 10cahr

bump 10char

UCI-In
UCLA-Match
U of Chicago-High Match
UCBerkley- Match
Carnegie Mellon-Match
Caltech-High Reach
CSUFullerton-In
Rice-High Match
NYU-Low Match
Cornell-High Match
Stanford-High Reach
MIT-High reach
Uof Illinois Urbana Champaign-Match

People saying reach for Berkeley and UCLA either don’t live in CA or are overestimating in-state selectivity.

Please chance back:

Berkeley/Cornell/CMU-Match

Good Luck!

hmmm: assuming he’s doing EECS (since he’s a computer science major) at berkeley, yeah. it’s a reach. their program is about as good as MIT/Caltech/Stanford. It’s relatively easier just to get into Cal especially if you’re in-state, but getting into a 5th world rank for computer science is ridiculously hard.

if you read my chance, it’s pretty much the same as yours. it’s not that cal and la aren’t matches for him with his grades, but they can be unpredictable when it comes to admission and there isn’t a set formula. i know people who had 4.3/2300 but didn’t get into la, cal, or even sd, actually.

we’re talking about eecs at cal. that’s not easy to get into.

^Ah, if he’s EECS at Cal, then you’re right (didn’t see that originally). Sorry for the confusion.

But yeah, they can be unpredicatable, but still, on the whole, it’s pretty predicatable, at least compared to HYPS level. Although, I would rather say people will get into one of Cal or UCLA than they would get into a specific one or the other (or both).

Woah, what was that Raytheon internship?

bump 10char

bump 10char

Match for all besides Caltech, cornell, and u Chicago which are low reaches and MIT and Stanford which are mid reaches. That is, if your anticipated test scored are accurate.
