Do they do housing on a first come first serve basis (whoever submits the housing app first) or do they just do a lottery when assigning housing? I didn't do any research yet on the residence halls/apartments etc...

edit- nvm i just started the app and it says this on the very first pg

"Assignments are offered according to a randomly assigned lottery number and not according to your application date."

so anyway, for u guys that already did the research, where's the best place to live?

I was going to rush and make a hasty choice on where I was going to dorm today because I thought it was the “first come, first serve” style but then I saw it wasn’t, so I’ll do some more in-depth research into all the options available this weekend. I liked the Wada because they’re specific for transfer students but it says there’s no “meal plan” or something like that available, what exactly does that mean? Will I not be allowed to eat food from the campus without paying? I also thought Unit 1 and Clark Kerr were alright…

yea, no meal plan means that we have to pay to eat dorm food and anywhere else. i think we have an option to also purchase a meal plan, but that costs a lot, so the most financially sound solution is to learn to cook

I went for the units. I don’t want an apartment because it would be no good to me. 1) I don’t need a kitchen because I can’t cook $hit & 2) Whenever I’ll be home, I will be chilling in my room so I don’t need a family room.

I’m hoping to recruit fellas for a house senior year or maybe I’ll be able to crash in a frat. All I hear are the apartments are way less social and all that crap. I still imagine you can have a good time living in the apartments just not a better time than in the units.

wait. so this “meal=plan” business: do people in dorms get free food or something? i thought everyone had to pay no matter what. any explanations?

Yeah my worry is that the apartments/suites won’t be as sociable as the units…but then again living in a unit will most likely mean being around a lot of freshman…i cant seem to decide!

on another note, anyone know if there is a difference between the unit 1 suites and the unit 2 suites?
