Hey Guys, I received an email from Berkeley's College of Natural Resources and it invited me to attend a transfer applicant mixer next Saturday. I was wondering if everyone got this email and whether you guys think this means acceptance?

" YOU'RE INVITED!

Your are one of our Top Transfer applicants to the College of Natural Resources
We invite you to the CNR Student Resource Center to meet current CNR transfer students and advisors. Join us for a great networking opportunity and a chance to learn more about the college! As you know admissions decisions will be release May 1 but this is a chance to get connected earlier

Cal Day Prospective Transfer Student Mixer
Saturday, April 12, 2008
1:00 - 2:00 PM
CNR Student Resource Center
260 Mulford Hall

Yea it sounds like you are in for sure. That would be cool if the college of letters and sciences did that. I got an invite to come to CAL day from the TAP program.

I don't know if it means you've been accepted. The mixer is advertised on the Cal Day website as one of the events, and it doesn't look like it is a closed event.

Overall, I have a 3.63. But that's because in high school I received an "F" grade in a course that I thought I'd dropped. I took it again and got an A+--it didn't replace the grade because I had originally took the course under a semester system and the repeat was under a quarter system. My GPA jumps up substantially if you take that out.

The highlight of my academic record is probably taking heavy course loads like 35 units a quarter.

Outside of that I worked as a Field Manager and Campaign/Lobby Coordinator for a non-profit environmental group for a while.

I'm inclined to believe with thatgirltoo that everyone in CNR will be getting this invitation and the "Top Transfer Applicant" is probably an exaggeration.

26 more days!

I hope to see some of you at the mixer! I know for certain that many of you are probably more qualified than I am.

Are transfers supposed/allowed to attend Cal day, or is it just for freshman admits? I've been looking and I can't find a Cal day for transfer students, will there be one?

I almost feel like going to Cal day while not having been admitted would be the biggest jinx I can put on myself.

I'm pretty sure it is for both, but the admitted freshman have a separate thing that they've been invited to that will occur in the early morning. They do say that admitted freshmen are welcome to visit the financial aid department to ask questions about their fin. aid packages, but I'm sure that a prospective transfer student could also ask questions about possible fin. aid. The only transfer-specific thing happening, that I can find, is the mixer for the College of Natural Resources, but it looks like all or most of the departments will be open and/or have info tables. Both admitted freshman and transfers are invited to attend speeches on study abroad, etc. In general, it appears to be a way to get to know the school, whether you have been admitted yet or not. I plan on going so that I can tour some of the co-ops and ask questions of any students manning the geography dept. table, and maybe to attend one of the DeCal classes. Also, the library Stacks will be open to the public for tours and the Campanile will be free.

CalDay is for everyone...its set up so that people can explore the campus and all the programs. If you get a chance to visit our campus, I highly suggest it be on CalDay, all the departments have info booths, F/A workshops, etc.
