which one would u choose and why?

berkeley...the program is just so renowned and prestigious, you'd have a job the second you enroll. just my $.02 though :)

^^ agreed.

Though I'd go for Berkeley CS (which is ranked with CMU's CS).

I think it depends a lot on where you want to live and work after college. Go to school where you want to end up after school.

They're both tops for CS. Choose the environment in which you are most comfortable.

but remember, berkeley is close to silicon valley (and we have better weather). =)

From reading the threads on CC, it sounded like Berkeley is over crowded and that CS study is best for grad school. CS at CMU provides personal attention.

whoever said that weather in Berkeley is good is highly exagerrating...

um, berkeley weather isn't bad at all. not too hot, not too cold, but i suppose it depends on what you like. the bay area is pretty world renowned for its good weather, and remember, it's all relative. i just know that i personally would prefer to not freeze my butt off during winter on the east coast and sweat like crazy during the humid summers.

Berkeley's weather is better than almost anywhere in the world. Maybe someone from San Diego might complain that the weather there is better, but beyond that, I can't imagine anywhere with better weather. Never too hot, never too cold, not too much rain, etc. Also the air quality is excellent.

The only problem with Berkeley is that it's chilly in the morning and warm in the afternoon, so it's hard to dress "right" for the day. You are always adjusting your clothing by the hour.

-K

lol.. kenf sounds like a commercial.

Well, jmilton90, there is a well-known psychological phenomenon where people try to justify their choices by convincing others to make the same choices. ;-)

Frankly, though, I think a little boosterism is healthy on a forum like this.

On the weather, though, I really do like bay area weather. We don't get some things, like warm summer nights, but other than that I don't see a lot of downsides. A trip to LA in the summer or Tokyo in the winter makes me very happy to come back to the bay area.
