Berkeley EECS vs. Columbia University (CC)

Need help on deciding - I know I can't go wrong with both, but help by making a firm plug for either one so I can weigh pros and cons.

Prospective Major: EECS at Berkeley or Math/Econ Major at Columbia University. Career outlook comparison would be great.
Thanks!

Well, do you want to study EECS or math/economics?

Also, net price at each?

Interested in both, job opportunities/future will be deciding factor, so insights along those lines would be really helpful.
In-state residence for Cal, cheaper by far (~40k difference)

Go to Cal… $40k is a huge difference, and EECS has probably the highest average salary of all majors at Cal. But your decision should really depend on what you want to do… don’t do EECS just because it’s high paying if you’re not interested in it - you’ll do horribly, I’m sure…

It is, however, relatively easy to switch to L&S at Berkeley (see http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/registration/changeofcollege.html</a> ), where you can declare the math and/or economics major (although the economics major needs a 3.0 GPA in its prerequisites; see <a href=“Applying to the Economics Major | Department of Economics”>Applying to the Economics Major | Department of Economics; ).

However, you should choose something you like, since you are likely to be better at something you like.
