Berkeley Financial Aid

Did any of you receive this message?

"Verification Dependent

Your financial aid awards are not official because you were selected for Verification. These estimated, conditional awards, will not pay to your CARS account. You must complete the Verification documents that were mailed to you and submit them to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office with the required documentation. If your verified household or financial information varies significantly from what you reported on your FAFSA, your awards are subject to change from your conditional offer."

If so, were they mailed to you?

Still waiting for the same FA verification package in the mail…I’ll call them on Monday if I don’t get it this week. Or I’ll bring some docs with me on the 15th (such as 1040, W2…).

Is there a dependent verification pdf we can download somewhere?

My finaid says that I am missing documents but it doesn’t say which documents…Nothing listed and they have not sent me anything requesting information…hmm

im in the same boat… i read the FA faqs and i guess they sent out the first batch of verificaiton packets the fourth week of march??? and it says just to wait at least a week or something… yeah i dont know how that really makes sense since its may now but… i think ill give it a week. haha

has anyone received the verification forms in the mail yet? or whats going on with that? thanks for the info

Mine says the same thing. I’m not sure whether I’ve really been selected for verification or not. I hope I haven’t

I called the FA office on Thursday (after waiting in queue for about 50 mins!). They mailed the verification docs this week. We should be getting them this coming week. If you don’t receive it by the 14th, then contact the FA office. Hope this helps…

I got mine today.

^^just got mine too

I got mine in the mail today too. Does this mean we’ve been selected for Berkeley in particular, or ANY school we choose?

When are these documents due?

No later than July 15th to ensure you get the maximum campus based aid.

So I’m totally lost. I’ve accepted my financial aid package which included a subsidized loan, unsubsidized loan, and a Federal Parent PLUS Loan. Now what?! I know that the Financial Aid Office is suppose to mail you the UCB Plus Loan Application and that I’m suppose to go on https://dlenote.ed.gov/empn/index.jsp</a>. Has anyone done this yet? And when is the deadline for all of this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I may be late with my stuff because my parents JUST BARELY finished their tax returns.

I don’t think they’ll arrive by tomorrow. If I get them in by say July 16th, what will happen?

So i’m totally lost because they gave me a financial aid package the moment I got in online… I never had to submit ne kind of paperwork or verification forms… is that normal???

nadiavar, I believe that is normal. I never had to send any forms in. Also, they would notify you in the “documents needed” section of the finaid website. No worries, you could call and make sure. Sometimes it takes talking to them directly to feel better about things.

yeah no under my required docs it says (0) so im guessing its good.

I asked one of my sisters and she said that since our other sister was asked to submit the tax information they were smart enough to realize its the same document for the both of us.

so we’ll see what happens :)

does anyone know how long it the verification forms take to process? i just got a notice today that i have to fill out the verification form but i havent got the papers yet. the deadline for the first payment is on aug 15th and that in three weeks. i dont get why i got mine so late.
