Berkeley Haas 2016 Transferring from Community College

I have a 3.71
President of a Foreign Language Club (which I’ve founded)
VP of Marketing for the LGBT Group
Senior VP of the Entrepreneurial Club
In the school’s honor society
Member of the Business Fraternity

Worked since I was 15 years old,
Completed 2 Internships 1 of them a computer science one and the other marketing (3 years)
Still doing an internship for business development and marketing (10 months)
And I’m CMO for a start up company music company in San Francisco.

Volunteered at my local library for 4 years, and volunteered for almost 2 years at the LGBT Center as a volunteer marketing for AIDS outreach.

I am a gay muslim and proud, I feel like I’m somewhat of a minority group even though i’m technically considered (white), but I’ve had a lot of issues during my college such as my parents splitting up, my parent almost dying from a gang related incident and leaving him/her(i don’t want to say) mentally incapacitated. I’ve come from pretty humble beginnings, being the first generation in my family to go to college, my parents being refugees I’ve had it hard assimilating into American society growing up, but I’ve worked fast food at age 16, and at age 15 worked at my high school. I’m from California if anyone is wondering. Do I have any chance of getting into Haas, I really want to work administration and to become a rich successful operations director for internet companies in Silicon Valley.

Oh, and I have also worked 2 years in sales and marketing for over 10 different companies in the East Bay.

Sorry, I’m not very good at knowing how College Confidential works, so I forgot to add in a few points. last spring I took 2 classes and got a D in one, and this spring i took 3 classes, got a C in one and a W in the other. The W being in econ which I will redo and get an A in in the fall. I’m worried that not taking 4 classes each semester will look bad on my app, and sometimes getting a few bad grades. Last spring I was kicked out of my house for being gay and was homeless the entire semester until I got my job in sales in marketing. This semester, my parents finalized their divorce and I got sick and my heart and lungs were failing and I was in the hospital a month and a half before classes ended. I guess i’ve had some extenuating circumstances but I hope they do not impede my chances, but i’m going to be a full time student for the rest of my community college.

You’re looking to transfer for 2017, not 2016.

Honestly your GPA is pretty low. Your extracurriculars are good but nothing really stands out.

You do have your extenuating circumstances and your story to leverage though, so find a way to use all that to your advantage.
