Hiiiii

I really would lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve to go to HAAS business school, but i am having second thoughts its just that the competition is so cut throat and crazy i don't want to get rejected
Since my main goal is to go into wall street or investment banking, i think it would be preferable to go to HAAS,

butt, the chances for being accepted for econ are muccch higher(in comparison). I mean i woulllld lovve to go to Cal. but how does it work for investment banking are my chances worse if im an Econ major

I mean i wanna go to Cal(main goal), i don't wanna sacrifice another year, i have a 3.9 something right now( only one B+ in non pre req)

like i don't wanna look back and say........ damn i should've tried i wonder what would've happened. Should i go for it?

I don't know what to do, having such a dilemma, any suggestions would be helpful. Thanksss :)

If you want to work on wall street, going to Cal would be a huge mistake. Try going to Stern instead.

The thing is Berkeley is a target school, and its in state so i can kind of afford it. Stern is out of my reach in terms of tuition and distance. :)

Target school for wall street? hahaha no. It’s a target school for the west coast. It’s rare for Cal students to get lucrative offers from mms or bbs outside of California, sorry to say. The west coast students who get offers are from Stanfurd.

well its actually a target school for investment banking which i would like to do, plus stanford only offers like 20 transfers admissions

Well, here is the career survey for Berkeley bachelor’s degree graduates by major:
https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/Major.stm

Note that the undergraduate business major at Berkeley is not heavy in math; if quantitative finance is what you are most interested in, it may be better to do the math-heavy version of the economics major (where you need to take sophomore level multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations, and then take Economics 101A/101B/141 at Berkeley instead of Economics 100A/100B/140).

I go to Cal. I have to spell it that way.

[Urban Dictionary: Stanfurd](Urban Dictionary: Stanfurd)

If you are comfortable with studying econ, then I would do it. If you don’t enjoy it then, stick with biz admin.

the main reason why I want to major in business admin is because it isn’t as math intensive as Econ.

Also I visited Haas on Cal day and absolutely loved everything about it. but i wouldn’t mind going for Econ as long as i don’t wast another year at comm college.

@ucbalumnus Thanks for the link, it looks like there is a higher rate of making it in the Banking industry through HAAS, making my decision towards applying to Haas stronger.

@Investment LOL, looks like you have done a lot of research into the Cal v Stanford rivalry. plus dont you wanna work in banking or investment, I read some of your other posts(stalking xD) and you have an investment b intern in new York. why did you choose cal over any other school for business admin?

Well to be honest, I didn’t want to get into ibanking until the past few months. Before, I was going to focus on the high tech industry. Anyway, I really didn’t want to get into finance because it is difficult and cutthroat but since I was fortunate enough to get a head start this summer (hardly anyone gets to work for a bb before their junior year) that I decided to just go for it. If it fails I’ll fall back on something else.

@Investment

Oh I see, definitely lucky. I would kill for that lol(jealous :D).
Gives you an edge over the rest, best of luck at Cal; hopefully i get to meet you next year i . A

P.S.( Do you know something over the top I could do in order to be more prioritized) thanks

you aren’t doing any research on ibanking are you? UCB is NOT a target school for ibanking what so ever. If you want to get into investment banking try going to schools like NYU, indianna, UT, cornell, and UPENN.

Ok then, I want to do investment banking. Should i do Business or Econ major?
