I recently received an email from UC Berkeley requesting letters of recommendation from a teacher. Is this a good sign? What is your interpretation of this? Thanks.
Hey I just saw that request too. What stats did you have? I have a 33ACT and a 4.3 something UC GPA. I’m in the same boat, I have no idea what this means but I’m just going to say it’s a good sign. Just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone and we are all just as confused as you lol. Good luck!
It’s supposedly for borderline applicants, but I’ve seen people with lower stats receive them also. I got one too and my stats are: 3.85 UW GPA, 1550/1600 SAT
Whatever this means, it can’t be bad
Eh whatever happens, happens. All we can do is just chill until we find out.
It means at this point you are not in, but you aren’t out yet either, that’s about it.
I got it and I got a 27 on the ACT and I have a 3.997 GPA
What are your EC?
There are already several discussions going on about this right now:
(see my response #117 in thread above)
The upshot is:
- getting an offer to submit LOR doesn't necessarily mean you are borderline - YOU should know if you are borderline based on the Freshman Profile and your own stats - some VERY qualified candidates are also getting the email.
- do everything in your power to submit them - there are no guarantees they will help, but if you don't, and you don't get in, you will ALWAYS wonder if you missed an opportunity to give the admissions folks a more complete and favorable picture of yourself. Who needs that kind of regret?
- if you don't get the email, don't sweat it.
