So I received a supplemental questionnaire from Berkeley (for those borderline kids) and I was looking at the letter of recommendation form.
How much of the application does your person need to fill out?

there should be a link that you can send to the person you would like to write you a recommendation letter. You cannot see what they write, but once they are finished they will submit it by themselves.

Sorry, I don’t think I was clear enough. I know about the link and I have visited it myself, I was wondering if they can just post a letter of rec and not fill out the rest or if the mini questions are necessary as well.

i’m really sorry i can’t help with your question, but i am very curious about the questionnaire because i think that it could help my app if i am contacted. were you contacted by email? or does it show up in your myberekely?

Chingoo- yeah i think they have to fill out everything then.

atomsforpeace- being a borderline applicant doesnt really augment your chances of admission unless you have something of significant value to offer, such as new extracurricular, or skyrocketing grades. My friend received a borderline supplement, and because of his significantly improved 1st semester senior grades, got in. you will have to wait until they send you an email, and it will appear as another section in your myberkeleyapp. Again, a select few get the supplement. I got the talent supplement last year and I got in. Golden Bears 2016’!!

I was emailed the supplement as well! I’m going to put a lot of effort into this supplement because Berkeley is one of my top dream schools even though my test scores aren’t up to par with their usual averages. :)

@heychanceme - i have had a significant upward trend from 10th grade to now (probably somewhat like your friend), so I really want to show Cal that I am committed to my academics, can maintain good grades, and can compete with admitted students. Although my senior year grades will be a sort of a plateau in my trend as I will probably get the same GPA as 2nd semester junior year (~4.6), although I am taking harder courses and have the stress of college essays, etc.

thats great! i was greatly encouraged by another CCer here last year, worked really hard on my supplement essays and got into UC Berkeley. Hope you will put lots of time and effort on the supplement and gain admission to class of 2017!

Atomsforpeace- if you do not get the supplement, do not worry, this just means you werent selected as borderline. Significant improvements in grades places you in good standing for acceptance, coupled with good test scores and extracurriculars.
