Berkeley Linguistics

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone around knows how the UC Berkeley Linguistics course fares in comparison with other universities?

How well-equipped is Berkeley for this and do undergraduates get to utilize these resources?

Will appreciate any help whatsoever!

Thanks!

Regards

Hi.

I took one undergrad linguistics course (55AC), so I’m not really that qualified to comment on the linguistics program as a whole (let alone in comparison to other schools). I’d just like to say, however, that the one class I took was pretty ******** in terms of material presented, organization, and class difficulty. The teachers, however, were indeed very enthusiastic about their subject.

Not entirely sure which “resources” you mean.

Certainly, Berkeley is one of the top universities in the US to study Linguistics as an undergraduate. The department is relatively small, so there is a lot of opportunity to interact with professors.

Hi Aureat!

Thank you very much for sharing your personal experience. I take it into the deepest consideration. Might you know the general impression of those majoring in this course though? Just wanting to figure out if a linguistics-fanatic would be able to look past those shortcomings and still enjoy the course.

Thanks again =)
