@StevenToCollege my checklist has the same thing showing letter of recommendation received, but it shows it was received in the middle of October. That was before my D submitted her application. Must have been her teacher submitting it through Naviance. I wonder if they’ll even look at it since they didn’t actually request it
@heeeeey Does the portal say Optional letters of recomendation?
@Wishforcalpoly Yes it does, and I received my recommendations email a couple of hours after I received the portal email
Does anyone know why my portal would show that they hadn’t received either my self-reported scores or my official scores? I self-reported my SAT score on the UC app, and I sent my official score report back in September, but when I got the portal today, it says that I haven’t reported any scores.
Ah, never mind. It just updated.
My kid had stats quite similar to OP’s and she had a LOR request. I spent hours googling (too many, lol) and the most interesting information I found was that indeed, your chances of being admitted are much higher with a LOR request, they jump to about 46-47% acceptance rate? I believe this was conveyed in a YouTube video. My kid is a freshman there now and she loves the school! But, if you didn’t get a request, don’t worry. Most of her friends didn’t.
We did not know that LOR not required by UC and we summit it when we are summiting application? Now getting worried that it won’t effect or look bad that we did not know ?
Thanks.
@Dizzywillow: UCB is the only UC that asks for LOR’s as part of their application review and they are by invitation only. The other UC’s do offer a supplemental review again by invitation only where LOR’s may be submitted but it depends upon the reason for the supplemental. None of the UC’s want LOR’s sent as part of the original application.
@Gumbymum ,but we did not know that while summiting the app. and summit the LOR with out they ask for it.
Does it going to have any bad effect on application?
Thanks.
@Dizzywillow: If you submitted an LOR without an invite, then UCB will not consider it. It should have no impact on the applicants chances.
I submitted my UCB application on the 30th of November and got an email on December 10th stating that after initial review of my application they would like to invite me to submit letters of recommendation to add to my admission application.
I did mine… But my stats weren’t too stellar compared to your guys. I know I won’t be admitted. It was worth a shot. I also got an LOR
