I am a Cal graduate. However, my brother who also went to Cal, got his phD in engineering from University of Michigan. I love the days of the Fab 5. Wowsa!

Go Blue and Gold! Cal and Michigan has such similar academic excellence and campus personality/philosophy. Just wanted to let the Wolverines out there know that Cal got hella love for you guys!

BTW, we are trying to start up a West Coast Ivy league with Berk, UCLA, Stanfurd, Cal Tech, USC, UCSD. I hope you guys start up a midwest Ivy League with U Chicago, U Mich, Northwestern! Its time to narrow the gap between perception and reality!

BTW, I hope we meet in the Rose Bowl! It will definitely be quite a battle to watch! See you guys there! Hopefully we get there, and you guys too =) crosses fingers

We love Cal too. Beat that Mississippi team and Michigan vs Cal (the top 2 public universities in the land) will meet for the first time in 50 years!

yeah even though i love the wolverines, our hopes of a rose bowl victory do not look good. i would say that aaron rodgers is the best college qb (yes better than white and leinhardt)

I agree with you Nirvana. Cal is the real deal and has a good chance of beating us. I would say a 60/40 chance in favor of Cal. Their QB is THE best QB in college football today, bar none! And then you have the fact that the game is played in California, which means that Cal will have a small homefield advantage. Michigan has 2 advantages:

We play very physical football and that usually wears down Pac 10 teams, that are more accustomed to the West Coast Offense system.

We have played and won the Rose Bowl recently. Actually, Carr has been involved in 15 Rose Bowls, so he really feels at home there. Cal may have a bit of stage fright. I hope so.

I have a feeling we're going to get embarrassed by Cal in the Rose Bowl

We had a very impressive season considering, but we had the ball work in our favor too many times this season. The majority of the wins, especially the quality ones, we're very close games. Luck ran out when we went into Ohio State.

Like Alexandre said, Cal is the real deal this year. They shouldn't have lost to USC, but USC somehow walked away with more points on the board despite being outplayed. and that was in L.A.

nonetheless, I'm looking forward to seeing the two public powerhouses face to face in the Rose Bowl. I love Michigan and I love Cal. I was close to moving to California and attending Cal, since I have family there and could gain residency. I would attend either of these institutions over any others, including HYPS. I'm at Michigan now for undergrad and I would like to attend Cal for grad school.

Kazz, you and I are almost identical. I too had a choice between Michigan and Cal (my two finalists despite my having been accepted into Brown, Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Johns Hopkins and Penn). I would pick Harvard and Stanford over Michigan, but I also know that my experience would not have been as complete. Michigan really offers the most complete education. Barron's once labled Michigan the best university all around.
