Unlike the other UC’s one is not admitted into a major at Cal, instead you are admitted into a college like letters and science of which both the PCS and POLS major is in. When you go to Berkeley you simply show the paperwork, go to a session and you admitted into the major. So even though you applied as a PCS major as long as you have completed two of the following American Politics, Comparative politics, IR, or Theory and got at least a 2.0 in those classes you can switch over. But the PCS is still POLS heavy!

As for the IR emphasis, I wouldn’t necessary say that. I too am a POLS IR major and was at Berkeley and unless you’re into development studies or LDC’s and possibly Asia there isn’t much in the way of IR!

The POLS dept at cal is AWESOME, and you can be a IR emphasis but your classes will focus on LDCs or Asia! Also if you go Cal take PS 3 your first semester!! The only reason I say this is because it is a difficult class and I knew Senior who where freaking out because it was their last semester they got “A’s” in all there other POLS classes but nearly failed PS 3 because they slacked off, and nearly had to stay another semester as PS 3 is a requirement for the major!

this is totally unnecessary.
in 3 days, people will post the same stats along with the results, i promise.

i agree with pinker. wait 3 days and your prayers will be answered.

i’ll bet this thread still gets to three pages before it dies…

bump… let people post it, you guys got your 15 UCLA threads guessing time and day and FA summary theories

@ Darwinjoe

thank you so much for the information.

So you are saying the IR emphasis is limited to LDCs and Asia?

lmao exactly, sobizzle

Where do you guys get your score for your admissions essay?

I’m pretty sure they’re grading themselves or based on what other people have told them.

ah. I was like? How did they get their scores. Silly…

sobizzle, how good do you think your chances are for Haas (based on your research)? I have a brother who wants to go there, so he’d like to know.
