High schoolers (graduating in 2021) interested in applying to Berkeley’s MET program!
Berkeley MET’s program is very competitive to be admitted to with < 3% acceptance rate for freshman applicants and considering that UCB’s freshman admission rate is around 16% to 17%.

Honestly, I’m not sure if I am considered a competitive applicant for the program. Would you be willing to look over my info and guide me in the right direction? I’m afraid of getting rejected from Berkeley EECS if I get rejected from MET. I’m not sure if I should shoot for L&S or MET.

Hi! I believe the video essay is new this year, and I believe it’s intended as a replacement to interviews. I don’t know too much about it, but I’m guessing it’s simply to get to know you better and see how you articulate your interests and goals. Hope that helps a little!
I am prepared to talk to a person over zoom or other video means. To directly talk to a video camera for 90 seconds is a totally different thing. Thanks!

Hi! I can’t speak for all students, but my experience was much more conversational. I talked about some of my hobbies and experiences that led me to apply. I wasn’t asked specific engineering or business questions, but had a chance to talk about why I felt M.E.T. & UC Berkeley made sense for me.
Thanks. That helps and appreciate your inputs. would you know whether the video essays would be requested from all students. Or is it just in lieu of interviews and so sent to a limited set of applicants

I got video essay request after submitting the MET essay.
If you don’t mind me asking, when exactly did you submit the supp essay?
