I’m currently a senior deciding if I should even bother applying to Berkeley’s MET program, which combines offers a dual degree in an engineering major and business major. Unfortunately, they only accept around 30-50 students ever year. It’s one of the most appealing things about Berkeley and I’m genuinely interested in this program!! I want to do IEOR + business, but my stats compared to those who are applying and were accepted in the previous year puts me at a HUGE disadvantage, not exaggerating. Those who were accepted had perfect GPA’s, near-perfect SAT scores w/ amazing SAT II scores, and innovative extracurriculars such as creating their own apps or working on their own startups. I know I did not give much info about my stats, but I would consider them pretty average - A & B student with mediocre SAT & SAT II scores, first place award in FBLA competition, female STEM program, leadership/service, etc. My essay topics and essays are pretty well rounded and fluid, and hopefully makes up for my grades Should I even apply to this program when I know I’m most likely going to be rejected?
It doesn’t sound like you are in 30-50 who would get in based on your grades/SAT scores so I would advise not applying.
