Berkeley on the East Coast/Midwest

I don't plan on moving out of California anytime soon, but how will my Berkeley degree be viewed in the East and Midwest?

Your college Degree will mean the same thing in most places in the country. The only time it may mean more in one place but not another is if the person who is reveiwing your application for something is a UC berkeley alum. It may also mean a little more in the surrounding community, but trust me, people on the East Coast know about UC Berkeley.

bump…anyone else?

I live in New England, outside of Boston, and people definitely see Berkeley as a top notch school. I wouldn’t have applied otherwise!

It’s only on CC where Berkeley is not viewed as a highly respected school in the East Coast. In fact, top employers in WS, NY scout talents at Berkeley every year. For example, McKinsey recruited 23 Berkeley grads just last year alone. And I heard McKinsey recruited only 14 grads from Stanford on the same year.

yea but take into account the fact that Stanford’s undergrad pool is 25% the size of Cal’s
