I recently was accepted to both Michigan’s Ross preadmission program and UC Berkeley’s college of letters and sciences. I like both. My dad went to u mich, but my brother is in California. I’m nervous about Oakland vs Ann arbor. I hear Ross is basically the same in rep and academics, but the consensus among non industry ppl I know is that Berkeley is better. I’m from NY so cost isn’t significantly different. I haven’t gotten into haas yet.
Berkeley is in Berkeley, not Oakland.
Is the out of state tuition for both the same? Cal offers practical no financial aid for OOS students, is Michigan the same?
Is Haas your goal? If so, are you fine studying econ or something else if you’re not admitted to Haas? Pre-admit to Ross is nice if you have it.
Haas is generally ranked higher than Ross, but it’s usually close. Same with Cal over Michigan.
Both are good options.
I’m a pre admit to Ross, but was kinda keeping that as a second option. Haas isn’t exactly my goal but I was wondering what those who knew the school thought of it competitive ly with Ross.
Did you realize your dream of Stanford?
Ross is competitive with Haas. I’d take the Ross preadmit and run with it if you are sure you want a business major.
If you are Ross preadmit, take it. Haas and Ross are equivalent but admissions to Haas are insanely competitive. Odds of transferring in from Arts&Sciences are low. Take what you have rather what you hope might be, especially since there’s no difference between them in terms of outcomes or reputation.
