Berkeley pre med: how cutthroat is it?

i'm an incoming Berkeley pre med and i've always heard that it's very cutthroat at Berkeley especially among pre meds, so what should i expect? do students go so far as to sabotage one another? is it really as intense as it's hyped up to be?

it may be different, but from an engineering perspective, it is not as competitive as people tend to make it out to be. yes, people at berkeley are incredibly smart, and yes you will be competing with them for grades. however, they do not go so far as to sabotage one another. classes are all difficult, and the competition increases that difficulty a certain amount, though it is something you will have to get used to. i have heard similar things about pre-med classes / mcb majors, some say it is worse, some say it is not as bad as engineering.

double: are you a pre-med student majoring in engineering?

Competition can be pretty fierce. But no one sabotages each other. lol. But it's stressful trying to beat the curve in certain classes like OChem and Bio 1A. You just need to settle down and study hard and be motivated, which is harder than it sounds after freshmen year.
